Xbox app provides access to Slacker service on the dashboard

Streaming music provider Slacker has announced its availability on the Xbox Live service. The service allowing Xbox Live subscribers in the US and Canada to listen to millions of songs and hundreds of pre-programmed stations on an ad-supported basis, including a new videogame music soundtrack station curated by gaming culture blog, Destructoid. The app is now available through the Xbox Live Marketplace.

The new Xbox Live app integrates Kinect controls for music navigation. The Slacker music guide allows for music discovery, plus the latest music news, artist interviews and recommendations from Slacker's team of music curators. Listeners can also customize the experience with news and sports from ABC and ESPN, or use new fine-tuning controls to personalize Slacker's music stations with newer, older or more popular songs.

The service is also available for Windows 8, iOS, Android BlackBerry, and through a browser from slacker.com. The Xbox Live app does not give access to the premium subscription tiers of Slacker without additional purchase.
