BlackBerry commences first OTA update to BlackBerry 10 OS

updated 01:26 pm EST, Fri March 1, 2013

New update will be available over the 'next several weeks' to users

Being more responsive to customers' concerns than previously, BlackBerry has updated the BlackBerry 10 OS to version 10.0.10.85. The update is available at some carriers now, and the Canadian company will be working closely with carrier partners to provide it to al users "over the coming weeks."

The update provides improved performance for third party applications, fixes for Gmail calendars, improvements in the BlackBerry Hub, optimizations have been made in the camera for better low-light performance, enhancements to video playback, and over 60 battery-saving improvements, designed to give a longer average use per battery charge cycle.

The 150MB update will be available to all users through wireless providers by the beginning of April. No stand-alone update is available.
