All Evernote accounts required to reset passwords

Note-taking app Evernote has been attacked by hackers, in the latest in a long line of digital break-ins. The company has been forced to reset all passwords for its near-50 million users as servers were attacked by parties unknown, putting usernames, account e-mail addresses, and encrypted passwords at risk.

A company blog post claims there is no evidence of payment details for premium or business customers being compromised in the attack. However, user names, associated email addresses, and a "hashed and salted," password list were compromised. To be safe, users logging into Evernote will be forced to reset their passwords.

The Evernote intrusion is the latest in a line of recent attacks against technology companies. Data for Tumblr, Twitter, and Pinterest were stolen during a Zendesk attack, while a collection of 40 companies are said to have been hit by an eastern European hacker group, rather than hackers located in China.

I'm sorry, can you explain how your position would have made any difference in the case outlined in the article?
