Samsung rumored adding 'eye scrolling' to Galaxy S4
The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S4 could feature ‘eye scrolling,’ reports The New York Times. According to the Times source, the Galaxy S4 will track a user’s eye movements when scrolling a website. As a user reaches the bottom of the page, the device will automatically scroll further down the page, without requiring the user to swipe with their finger as they do now.
The report also highlights the fact that Samsung has filed for two relevant trademarks for eye scrolling technology. A trademark (No. 011510674) was filed in Europe in January for ‘Eye Scroll,’ while a similar trademark titled ‘Samsung Eye Scroll’ was applied for in the US in February. The Galaxy S III already incorporates a feature Samsung calls ‘Smart stay’ that monitors whether a user is using the phone without automatically turning off the display based on the length of time a user has not interacted with the device.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is scheduled to be revealed in Times Square on March 14, with a simultaneous live stream of the event taking place from 7pm. Although reports have varied on the display technology (SoLux, or AMOLED), it is widely expected to measure 4.99-inches diagonally. Equally, the exact CPU it is expected to run has yet to be pinned down, although it will almost certainly feature an ARM Cortex-A15 design with at least four cores.
