Xolo to unveil Intel-powered device this week

Indian smartphone manufacturer Xolo is teasing a new device, set for unveiling on March 14. Promotional materials for the unveiling event tout the unnamed device as "the fastest smartphone in the world. The device is said to be the successor to Xolo's X900, the company's first premium smartphone, which packed a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor.

Tech2 carried word on Saturday that Xolo had announced a March 14 event. Speculation about the device centers on its internals, with observers predicting an Intel Clover Trail+ CPU. The invite to the event — held in Goa — gives a glimpse of what is likely the device. It shows a stock Android app drawer, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the power button.

A countdown clock on Xolo's site points to a 4 pm launch, Goa Panjim time (about 4 am EST). Xolo's smartphone will likely struggle to grab headlines, as it is set to debut on the same day that Samsung will likely launch its own new premium handset, the Galaxy S IV.
