CBS debuts iOS streaming app; YouTube Capture hits iPad

updated 03:20 pm EDT, Thu March 14, 2013

CBS app to integrate with CBS Connect

TV network CBS has launched a new, self-named app for the iPhone and iPad. The software allows streaming of CBS shows within 24 hours of their original broadcast time, with the exception of new episodes of primetime programs, which are only available eight days after broadcast. Once the fall season starts the title will integrate with the CBS Connect app, letting people use an iOS device as a second screen, with things like synced content and integrated social network feeds.

CBS is promising equivalent streaming apps for "all major mobile and tablet platforms later this year," such as Android and Windows 8. The iOS app requires a device running iOS 5 or later.

Google has meanwhile updated YouTube Capture to v1.2. The app is intended to simplify recording and editing videos, uploading them to YouTube, and sharing them on social networks. The new version brings the app to the iPad and iPad mini, otherwise maintaining the same features as the iPhone interface.
