UnCarrier initiative to have price plans differing by data

Price plan details for T-Mobile's "UnCarrier" initiative have allegedly leaked online. If true, a document claimed to be an internal memo tells that T-Mobile will be creating a new set of price plans that automatically include unlimited talk minutes and text messages, with the only difference being the amount of data included and the number of lines.

The Classic Plans Overview found at TmoNews shows the Classic Plan starting at $60 for 500MB of data, including tethering, for one line, with the cost rising by $20 for 2GB, then by $10 for each 2GB increment thereafter up to 12GB. An option for unlimited data will cost $90 on an individual plan, including 500mb of tethering, but this can be increased to 2.5GB for $10 or 4.5GB for $20.

The leaked Classic Plan details, likely to be announced alongside the 4G LTE launch at a T-Mobile event on the 24th of March, will apparently only be offered through T-Mobile resellers, like Walmart and Best Buy. T-Mobile stores are said to be offering just the Value Plans, a similar proposition starting at 500MB, with an option to either be charged $10 per extra 2GB of usage or to pay $20 for unlimited data.

So, in reality, it works out...

at $80- a month for a truly "basic" plan. Pricey.
