Steve Kondik passes comment on Galaxy S4, admonishes TouchWiz

The founder of CyanogenMod has left his position at Samsung Mobile, after 19 months on the job. Steve Kondik, also the lead developer of the Android ROM community's ported offerings, made a number of comments about the Galaxy S4 on his Google+ page, at the same time as updating his employment information.

Kondik claimed to be a "huge fan of the S3" and is "quite pleased with the S4," according to the comments found by Android Police. While he compliments the new features and overall specifications list, Kondik does offer a number of criticisms for the device. TouchWiz is said to be more "consistent," lightened up, and has a clean "flat" feel, but Kondik believes that "it feels like it has been sent a few years back in time to the Froyo days. Say goodbye to all the nice touch-friendly ViewPagers and say hello again to a fully tabbed UI." An "endless onslaught" of pop-up windows and loading dialogs were also denounced.

While Kondik states he will likely be picking up a T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S4, so long as Samsung does not "lock the bootloaders or something silly and self-defeating like that," he does suggest that existing Galaxy S III users may not feel a sense of urgency to upgrade.

Kondik declined to explain why he left Samsung, though he did state in a reply to Android Police's request for an interview "not because of anything in particular. Samsung was great. Just decided to do something new. Ask me in a couple of months."
