New plans explained, more LTE devices added to roster

T-Mobile has formally announced that it will carry the iPhone 5, as well as the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, at its "Uncarrier" media event. At the same time, the carrier has turned on its LTE 4G network in a number of markets, announced other devices that the phone network will offer in the future, and reiterated its new Simple Choice plans.

The iPhone 5 for T-Mobile will go on sale April 12th, and will cost $100 initially, followed by 24 monthly payments of $20 for the 16GB model. The iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S will also be available in select markets, though without LTE access, at a cost of $15 down and $15 per month for 24 months for the former, and $70 down and $20 per month over the same period for the latter.

The BlackBerry Z10, HTC One, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Samsung Galaxy S4, and T-Mobile Sonic 2.0 Mobile HotSpot LTE are also announced as heading to the network, with LTE enabled.

As for the LTE network itself, T-Mobile is making it live in seven cities, including Baltimore, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Jose and Washington D.C..

The new Simple Choice plans, revealed before the event itself, revolve around offering unlimited calls and texts on all plans, with data being the main difference between prices. A 500MB plan will cost $50 per month while the 2GB option will cost $60, the allowance including tethering, and data speed switching down to 3G once the cap is used up. Another option, offering unlimited national 4G coverage for $70, will include a 500MB limit for tethering, though this can be extended.
