Backers will receive shipping notices for Ouya via e-mail
The Ouya game console has started shipping, with the first wave of shipments being sent today. The commencement of sending consoles to Kickstarter backers follows announcements that Game, a computer game retailer in the United Kingdom, has opened up pre-orders for the device, both in-store and through its website.
Notifications on the Android console's social media accounts state that backers should check their registered e-mail account for dispatch notices, with the remaining consoles set to ship from the factory "over the coming weeks." It is not clear if the deliveries are being sent based upon region, backer number, or some sort of order, nor how long the delivery will take to arrive after shipping.
Game has set its price for the Ouya at £99 ($150) including one controller, with extra controllers costing £40 ($60) apiece, a considerable premium over the expected price of US-based retailers. Though it does not have an expected release date on its website, it is likely that Game will receive stock at the same time or shortly after Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target will in June.
