Google patent application details GPS-based camera settings

Google has filed a patent application with the USPTO for using a GPS to alter the settings on a camera. The abstract in the filing suggests that a weather report based on a specific physical location could give the camera important data to optimize its settings for a photograph or video recording, such as how much ambient light there is to work with, reports Engadget. While it is possible that the method may not make its way into digital cameras, it is possible it could appear in a Google-produced handset, like the X Phone, in the future.

Everything Everywhere expands 4G LTE network to cover half of UK population

British phone network Everything Everywhere, known as EE, has rolled out its 4G network into 13 new towns and cities across the country. The roll-out, planned last year, sees 4G being switched on in Bradford, Bingley, Doncaster, Dudley, Harpenden, Leicester, Lichfield, Loughborough, Luton, Reading, Shipley, St Albans, and West Bromwich, and now covers approximately half of the UK population. While EE is the only carrier in the UK offering 4G access, other networks are preparing to launch their own network upgrades after the completion of communications regulator Ofcom's 4G spectrum auction.
