Raspberry Pi Model A goes on sale in US for $25
The Model A version of the Raspberry Pi has gone on sale in the United States through Allied Electronics, after briefly becoming available in Europe. The new $25 board is leaner than the $35 original, offering a single USB port, no Ethernet, and 256MB of RAM, and uses a third of the power. Despite the limitations, the microcomputer has been designed for applications that do not require network access or where power is in limited supply. Eben Upton, Raspberry Pi founder, told TechCrunch that in its short European launch, the Model A Pi has sold "a few thousand a week" so far, and is expected to have a varying availability for the next month until manufacturing meets demand.
