DPRK propaganda site's Twitter, Flickr sites seized by Anonymous

updated 05:55 pm EDT, Thu April 4, 2013

Anti-Kim Jong Un photos posted, Anonymous demands reiterated

In the latest phase of hacker collective Anonymous' attack against the bellicose North Korean regime, the Twitter and Flickr accounts associated with a North Korean propaganda site have been seized. The accounts taken over belonged to Uriminzokkiri, a web site which had 14,000 users' records stolen earlier this week by the same hacker group.

The Flickr account has since been reclaimed by the "news" agency. The stream posted several clearly anti-North Korean government images, with a smattering of Anonymous' own propaganda. Control of the Twitter feed has not been returned to the site's management as of yet, and still displays a profile picture of two tango dancers wearing Anonymous Guy Fawkes face masks. Additionally, at this time, the home domain of Uriminzokkiri is unreachable, whether by denial of service attack or owner shutdown is unknown.

The attack over the weekend was scheduled in advance, and it is unknown if this is an extension to the first attack, or a new effort. Access to North Korean websites after the first attack took nearly 48 hours. The group has planned more attacks for April 19 and June 25 on North Korean interests.
