Handset carries entry-level price
Confirming earlier rumors, HTC has introduced its First smartphone as an AT&T exclusive. Although the device is not designed by Facebook or powered by a Facebook-developed operating system, it is the first to designed specifically for the social network's new Facebook Home experience that was introduced earlier today for Android phones.
The First is a midrange and midsize phone, integrating a 4.3-inch display and a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean serves as the core OS, though the Facebook Home utilities serve as the primary messaging tools, notifications manager, home screen and app launcher.
The handset will support AT&T's LTE network, with four color options: black, white, red and blue. The phone will go on sale for $99 with a new contract on April 12, the same day Facebook Home launches on Google Play for installation on other Android devices.
