Report pegs May 15 for aluminum body Nokia Catwalk

Images of a Verizon-exclusive variant of Nokia's Lumia 920 appeared online on Friday. The images show off the front and back of a black model of the Lumia 928, and reports emerged that the device will hit the nation's largest carrier some time later in April. Additional reports on Saturday said that the Finnish phone maker will debut more high-end handsets in the near future, with the rumored aluminum Lumia among those forthcoming devices.

The Lumia 928, leaked by the @evleaks Twitter account, is said to be a minor update over Nokia's current AT&T-exclusive 920 flagship model. The 928 will sport a 4.5-inch OLED display, 1.5GHz CPU, 32GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, and will have support for simultaneous voice/LTE. The devices are said to have similar cameras, both leveraging Nokia's Pureview technology, but the 928 will have a Xenon flash for better low-light performance. The 928 is also said to use a thinner polycarbonate, allowing for a lighter chassis.

Prior rumors had pegged the Verizon-exclusive 928 as the rumored aluminum-constructed Lumia, but the device shown off in the @evleaks image appears to put those rumors to rest. Instead, says Unwired View, that handset will debut in a May 15 launch event in London. Codenamed "Catwalk," the device is said to feature a Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, 4.5-inch octaOLED 1280x768 display, 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 8.7MP f2.0 camera with optical image stabilization, and 2000mAh battery.

Rumor has it that Catwalk will hit stores in late June or early July.

Finally, Nokia is also said to be in the last stages of bringing PureView technology from Symbian to Windows Phone OS. The device in development is said to be codenamed EOS and slated for launch some time this year. The Pureview technology has appeared in Nokia's Lumia handsets, but in a version greatly scaled down from when it appeared in Nokia's Symbian-powered 808 Pureview.
