Play Store gets a number of interface changes in new version

Google will soon be updating its Play Store app and media outlet to version 4.0, and a new image of the store's interface has leaked to the Internet. The image shows the front page for the Play Store, with some notable changes from its current layout. Google appears to have simplified some aspects of the Play Store experience, while tweaking the Holo theme that defines the user interface.

YouTube employee Eileen Rivera posted the image to her Google+ page, though it has since been taken down. The preview image shows off a lighter-themed Play Store interface, a departure from the heavily gray current interface. Google has also moved the content categories to the top of the page, and the top bar appears to feature a pixelated gradient in the background.

In addition to the interface changes, Google is thought to have simplified aspects of the Play Store's navigation and settings, making it easier to access across a number of features. There's been no word on when Google might make the move to version 4.0 of the Play Store, but the highly polished nature of the screenshot would seem to indicate that users can expect it to roll out in the near future.
