Google Map Maker extended to United Kingdom
Google has added the United Kingdom to the list of countries able to contribute improvements to its mapping data. Enabled in North Korea earlier this year, Google Map Maker allows users to submit adjustments to the main Google Maps database, including new roads not picked up from Street View cars, changes in coastlines, and areas not usually covered by Google's normal cartography efforts. The changes are then periodically reviewed and rolled into Google Maps itself.
Sprint issues Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Victory 4G LTE
Sprint has started to roll out Android 4.1.2 to customers using the Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE. The carrier's update to Jelly Bean adds to the smartphone full text notifications of SMS and photos of MMS messages, pinching and grouping of notifications, conversational text-to-speech in US English, offline voice recognition for typing, Google+ event management, indoor walking directions in Google Maps, Zagat ratings, and Swype. The update will automatically download to the phone, and will take a few minutes to install.
