Leak: Sprint adding 4G LTE coverage to more markets today

updated 05:22 am EDT, Fri April 12, 2013

Areas of Los Angeles, Memphis to get coverage

Sprint is rolling out its 4G LTE network in a number of new markets later today, according to a leak. The network, which is said to offer speeds between 6 to 8Mbps and a peak of 25Mbps, may end up being turned on with little to no fanfare in a similar way to how areas of New York City, Washington D.C., and San Francisco quietly went live in February.

The new areas allegedly covered, leaked by a source of Phone Arena in what appears to be an internal e-mail, include Los Angeles and Contra Costa County, CA; Palm Bay, Port St. Lucie, and West Palm Beach, FL; Bloomington and Lafayette, IN; Rochelle, IL; Mankato-North and Mankato, MN; Joplin, MO; Charlotte, Shelby, Albemarle, Salisbury, and Lincolnton, NC; Memphis, Greenville, and Tullahoma, TN; Denison and Kerrville, TX; Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News, VA.

An earlier expansion in January saw another 28 markets receiving Sprint's LTE coverage.
