Asus releases Transformer AiO combination PC, Tablet in US

Runs Android when used as tablet, Windows 8 PC in dock

Asus has put its combined all-in-one desktop PC and tablet on sale in the United States. The Transformer AiO runs Windows 8 while docked, for use as a computer, which then switches to an Android-powered slate. This in theory would allow users to just use one device for two completely different purposes.

Bearing an 18.4-inch, 1920x1080 Full HD IPS screen, the Transformer AiO has ten-point multi-touch, and when in tablet form, is powered by a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor with 2GB of RAM, according to Ubergizmo. When docked and running as a PC, it has a third-generation Intel Core i5 processor, an Nvidia GeForce GT 730M GPU with 2GB of VRAM, 8GB of RAM, a 1-terabyte hard disk, and a DVD drive. The main components for its PC capabilities are hidden away inside the dock, but they can be remotely accessed by the undocked tablet if needed.

The Transformer AiO is on sale for $1,300.
