Xbox Live launches app for Pizza Hut food delivery

updated 10:30 pm EDT, Mon April 22, 2013

Dashboard app allows for Kinect motion controls, voice recognition

A new Microsoft Xbox Live app, scheduled to launch on April 23, will allow users of the gaming and media service to order Pizza Hut products directly from the Xbox 360 console. The new app gives customers access to the restaurant's entire menu, and features full Kinect integration in addition to voice recognition, or regular game controller use.

Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hyrb told Polygon that the company was "always looking at ways to give our audience more of what they're interested in. If you look at our audience, they love pizza. I mean, who doesn't? It has international appeal, and Pizza Hut is a recognized brand that matches up well with the Xbox brand."

Xbox and PizzaHut.com can be linked to streamline the order process with the use of saved orders, or perusal of a local store's deals. Users who download the app and use it to order before May 6 will receive 15 percent off a single purchase.
