Rumor: Nokia launching metal-clad Lumia 928 on Verizon

updated 08:45 am EDT, Tue April 23, 2013

Rumored phone has aluminum body, similar styling to Lumia 920

Nokia may be launching the Lumia 928 in May, with Verizon set to be the target carrier in the United States for the spiritual successor to the Lumia 920, according to a report. The phone, leaked earlier with a metal body instead of polycarbonate, will appear on the carrier complete with a 4.5-inch display, an 8-megapixel camera, and wireless charging capabilities.

Sources of Bloomberg claim that the phone will be revealed sometime next month, complete with Windows Phone as its operating system, and is said to be the first time that a high-end Lumia will be sold on Verizon. The Verge previously found that the Lumia 928 will use a polycarbonate body instead of an aluminum frame, in order to have a thinner profile, something which puts the report's sources into question.

Images of the Lumia 928 leaked earlier this month.

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has previously dodged questions about the rumored premium device during an interview. When the interviewer brought out an iPhone to show its materials and build to compare with the unannounced device, Elop threw the iPhone to the ground instead of discussing it further.
