Lenovo K900 to reach Chinese market on May 6, select markets thereafter

The Lenovo K900, first revealed at CES in January, will hit its home market in China on May 6. The device is notable as the first smartphone to feature Intel's Clover Trail+ SoC running a dual-core design. It is also one of the growing number of Android devices crashing through the 5-inch barrier centering on a large 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD display.

The K900, which is also set to reach "select regional markets" following its China debut, has its chipset clocked at 2GHz and mated to 2GB of RAM. Although running an x86 version of Android 'Jelly Bean', it is faster than some Windows 8 10.1-inch tablets running a similar Intel chipset are clocked at. It also packs in a 13-megapixel F1.8 camera module sourced from Sony, which is supplemented by a dual-LED flash.

In our hands-on with the Lenovo K900 at CES, we found it to be somewhat unwieldy as a smartphone, but felt that fans of the Samsung Galaxy Note line could find it attractive. Its mix of stainless steel and polycarbonate construction helps to keep the device to a thin 6.9mm, while also helping to keep its weight below six ounces. [via GSMArena]
