Acer Liquid E2 revealed for European launch in mid-May

updated 01:24 pm EDT, Wed April 24, 2013

Retains most of design from predecessor Liquid E1

Acer has unveiled a follow-up to the Liquid E1 smartphone, revealed earlier this year. The Liquid E2 retains the same general appearance of its predecessor, though its 4.5-inch screen is a qHD IPS display, its processor is bumped upwards from a dual-core 1GHz processor to a 1.2GHz quad-core version, but keeps the same 1GB of RAM.

Inside, the Liquid E2 has space for two SIM cards, 4GB of storage expandable by micoSD, an eight-megapixel rear-facing camera with BSI sensor and flash LED, a front-facing 2-megapixel counterpart, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Sadly, it does not have LTE radios, but it will connect on HSPA+ networks at up to 42Mbps, according to Android Community.

Starting at 229 euros ($298), the Liquid E2 will go on sale from mid-May in Belgium, the Netherlands, Ukraine, and France, followed by a later release in the UK, Italy, Germany, and Russia. No further details relating to a possible release in other countries have been provided.
