GS4 debuts in UK to long lines of fans
Samsung's Galaxy S4 has finally launched in the United Kingdom and Netherlands, with considerable crowds attending the release in at least one location. The new Samsung flagship handset has received positive reviews, and its launch comes at the end of months of hype. Samsung fans in Amsterdam appear to have gathered by the dozens, and possibly hundreds, in anticipation of the device's release.
Samsung fan blog SamMobile carried pictures on Saturday of lines outside The Phone House in Amsterdam, showing customers lined up around the block in order to buy the S4. The device's launch comes as many observers believe Samsung is in ascendance, having posted solid profits even as much of the media and investors appear to have fallen out of love with Apple.
Samsung has been gearing up for a massive worldwide launch of the S4, with estimates of 10 million units shipped in the first month, and 30 million by the end of its first quarter on sale. The gigantic rollout, though, has led to some problems, with possible component shortages said to be holding up some production.
