Stores alleged to focus just on Glass brand, teach customers

Google is planning to create stores to sell Google Glass to customers, according to a rumor. The search company is allegedly working on making the retail locations with the aim of helping the end users with setting up their devices before leaving the store, a similar process to what Google is doing with developers initially receiving their Explorer edition devices.

The report from Business Insider takes its information from a second-hand source, stemming from someone that claims to meet with Sergey Brin to develop the stores. Though the apparent path of the rumor makes it questionable, the report is fairly confident that it is true. As the initial users of Glass end up visiting a location to pick up their headsets from Google, they go through a process where the unit's positioning is altered to match the user, as well as a training session teaching them how to use the basic functions of Glass itself.

Google is not a stranger to the retail space. The company has previously opened up stores-within-stores in a few locations, in order to promote its Chromebook lines, while other rumors earlier this year suggesting it would build a retail chain for Chromebooks, Android devices and Glass were shut down by Andy Rubin before he stepped down as head of Android.
