Shure SE846 make Asia debut, set for US launch in June

Shure has quietly slipped out its latest in-ear headphones, the SE846 with quad-drivers, through an official launch in Asia. The see-through plastic enclosure also allows users to get a close look at some of the 10 laser cut stainless steel plates that help comprise its internal design. It also incorporates 4 balanced micro drivers with two low frequency, one mid and one high frequency on a 3-way crossover configuration.

The SE846s are also notable for the inclusion of a patent-pending low-pass filter that helps to create what sure is marketing as a 'True Subwoofer.' Bass roll of begins at 75Hz, according to Shure, which means that users who like low-end response will get to enjoy minimal distortion or artifacts. The user serviceable nozzles also allow for three separate sound signatures for the choice of bright sound, warm sound or balanced. Passive sound isolation is good for up to 37 decibels. Sensitivity is 114db, impedance is rated at 9 ohms and frequency range is 15Hz to 20kHz.

The included cables are Kevlar reinforced and allows for easier customization or replacement. The formable wire helps to offer secure placement, while the over-ear configuration of the cable helps to keep them out of the way when worn. Shure has also included two of the cables, one measuring 114cm and the other 162cm to help further cater to user preferences. An airline adapter is also included as is a portable, zippered carrying case.

The Shure SE846 Sound Isolating Earphones will be available in June. The listed price is $1399, although some retailers already have them up for pre-order in the US with a street price of $1000. [via Ubergizmo]
