Ruggedized Galaxy S4 variant heads to Bluetooth SIG for certification

The anticipated ruggedized version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has appeared for certification at the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). The device had previously been alluded to by a Samsung executive who said that it would be releasing a device with water and dust resistance along the lines of the Sony Xperia Z and ZR. Its appearance on the Bluetooth SIG site is indicative that it is set to join the ever expanding range of Samsung Galaxy products in the next couple of months.

Just last week, another Galaxy S4 variant, the Galaxy S4 Zoom, appeared on the Bluetooth SIG website undergoing certification. It is said to incorporate a 16-megapixel camera with a 10x optical zoom and is targeted at those looking for a true point and shoot replacement in a smartphone. The Galaxy S4 Active picks up the model designation GT-i9295 and is expected to reach the market in late June. One variant is expected to be colored in a metallic orange color. [via Pocket-lint]
