Slatebook X2 Android-based, Split X2 driven by Windows 8

HP has just announced the HP SlateBook X2 and the HP Spilt X2, a pair of detachable PCs offering notebook and tablet functionality in one device. The SlateBook X2 is the first Android detachable device with the Nvidia Tegra 4-processor, and runs Android 4.2.2 "Jelly Bean." The Split X2 is powered by the full Windows 8 operating system.

The SlateBook X2 is a 10.1-inch multitouch device, and boasts 64GB of storage. DTS Sound+ enhances audio on the device. Both the screen and the keyboard have individual batteries, allowing for extended runtime detached or connected. The display runs at 1920x1200.

The HP Split X2 is a 13-inch 1366x768 third-generation Intel Core powered device. Beats Audio provides the audio out on the computer. The Split X2 also mounts a 2MP Full HD webcam and the HP ClickPad, found in other HP devices. The computer has a pair of USB ports, on eUSB 2.0, and one USB 3.0.

The HP SlateBook x2 and HP Split x2 are expected to be available in the United States in August with starting prices of $480 and $800, respectively.
