Google+ Hangouts to gain SMS integration, outbound calls, Google Voice

The new Google+ Hangouts app will soon have SMS integration, though this is likely to be only within Android. The Next Web notes that the permissions list for the app includes listings for reading and sending SMS messages from within the app, something which would bring Hangouts in line with Apple's iMessage app. A message by Google employee Dori Storibeck confirmed that SMS integration is on the way, along with outbound calls and Google Voice features.

Google+ Games closing on June 30th, game data migrating to other platforms

Google is shuttering its Google+ Games service on June 30th. Users of the service, used to play games on the Google social network, will be able to migrate some of their game data to an "alternative destination site," including in-game purchases and credits that may have already been purchased. Though not directly mentioning it as the reason for its closure, the new Google Play game services are referred to on the product support page explaining the closure.
