Model number of media streamer reference to Douglas Adams book
A filing at the FCC suggests that Google is not letting go from its television plans, with the appearance of a new device. The item, described in the filing as a "media player," has been submitted for various tests, though there is little in the way of details for the device to be found inside the multiple PDF documents on the FCC website.
The key points inside the reports, found by TechCrunch, includes the fact it will have a 5 volt power supply, Wi-Fi connectivity, has the product name "H840 Device," along with the model number H2G2-42. This model number refers to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a book known for prominently using the number 42. More useful information is likely to appear in 45 days time, due to a confidentiality agreement.
While Google has experimented with products for use on a television, there has been little in the way of progress for the company. Google TV is being used by a number of manufacturers to operate their own set-top streaming media devices, while Google's own device, the Nexus Q, was found to be lacking in a number of areas.
