Smartphones, notebook likely candidates for event
Samsung is holding a press event in London for new mobile devices on June 20th. The event, which will also be streamed live on YouTube, will be the launch of new items in the Galaxy and ATIV ranges, with the accompanying images giving a few clues as to what exactly Samsung plans to show off to the press at the Earls Court Exhibition Center.
The "Samsung Premiere" invitation received by The Next Web includes three close-up shots of devices, suggesting that there are going to be at least three devices shown at the event. One device appears to be a smartphone with a patterned metal casing, a trait shared by earlier photographs of the Galaxy S4 Mini, albeit with a full back shell being a patterned metal case with different seams. The Galaxy S4 Mini made a temporary appearance on Samsung's own website over the weekend, suggesting that its launch may be in the near future, something which could easily coincide with the event.
The inclusion of ATIV on the invite could possibly mean a new Windows Phone is on the way from the company, though the brand is also used for the company's all-in-one computers, notebooks, and Windows tablets. The images shown in the invite could easily cover all of these options, and it is likely that at least one of the devices revealed will be some sort of notebook.
Other devices that could be shown at the event include the Galaxy S4 Mega, the Galaxy S4 Active, and some revised form of the Galaxy Tab. There is also an outside chance that a device running on Tizen could make an appearance.
