Sliding Ultrabook includes 8MP Exmor RS camera sensor, 15-hour battery

Sony has revealed new devices in its Vaio line of computers, including two normal Ultrabooks, and one Ultrabook with a sliding screen. The Vaio Pro ultrabooks come with 11-inch and 13-inch displays, while the previously leaked Vaio Duo 13 uses a sliding mechanism to raise its 13.3-inch screen, similar to its predecessor, the Vaio Duo 11.

The two Vaio Pro notebooks offer full HD 1080p resolutions that use the same Triluminos technology as the company's Bravia televisions, along with a new X-Reality picture engine. Weighing 1.92 pounds and 2.34 pounds for the 11 and 13-inch models respectively, the Ultrabooks will ship with Haswell processors, up to 8GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and HDMI-out. The eight-hour battery life of the Vaio Pro 13 and the 11 hours for the Vaio Pro 11 can be extended further by an optional sheet battery, pushing power life up to 18 hours and 25 hours respectively.

The Vaio Duo 13 and its "Surf Slider" hinge also offers a 1920x1080 Triluminos display, again with the X-Reality engine for image processing. Along with the Intel Haswell processor and 8GB of RAM, it includes a rear-mounted 8-megapixel camera using the Exmor RS for PC image sensor, and a digitizer stylus. Battery life is claimed to reach up to 15 hours, and has options for up to 512GB of SSD storage.

Sony will be putting the Vaio Duo 13 on sale in the US from June 9th with options for black or white casings, starting from $1,400. The Vaio Pro 11 and 13 will also ship on June 9th and will start from $1,150 and $1,250 respectively.
