Bloomberg report reiterates possible August launch of HTC One Mini

Mentions low-resolution 4.3-inch screen, Qualcomm processor

The existence of the HTC One Mini is looking more likely, courtesy of a new report. The smaller version of the HTC flagship is claimed to be coming out by August, confirming other recent release-date rumors, as well as the change of screen size from the 4.7-inch display in the original HTC One to a smaller and lower-resolution 4.3-inch version.

The report by Bloomberg mentions two people "briefed on the plans" as its sources, who go on to state it will have a less-powerful Qualcomm processor, but stopped short of saying what exactly it would be. While the HTC One has a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 running at 1.7GHz, previous rumors claim it will have some form of dual-core chip, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It would also have a 4-megapixel rear camera, using the same UltraPixel technology as its larger predecessor.

The move to make a "mini" version of a strong-selling smartphone is one that is also being employed by HTC's main Android smartphone rival. Samsung's own Galaxy S4 Mini was revealed at the end of last month, and though a release date was not offered at the time, a London event later this month may provide details of its roll-out, which could be in the same timeframe as the potential HTC One Mini.
