Skype Video Messaging emerges from preview in mobile, desktop apps

updated 12:01 pm EDT, Mon June 17, 2013

Most native apps updated

Microsoft-owned Skype today announced that its Video Messaging feature has left the preview stage and should now be available in most of its native client apps. Desktop support includes OS X and Windows/Windows 8. Compatible mobile platforms, meanwhile, include iPhone, iPad, Android, and BlackBerry.

The feature lets people send short videos to contacts who are offline or otherwise unavailable. Clips can only run three minutes or less, but are free to send, and can be previewed before delivery and re-recorded if necessary.
