Ascend P6 uses 4.7-inch, 1280x720 display, metallic case

Huawei has launched its Ascend P6 smartphone at its London event. Measuring just 6.18mm (0.24 inches) thick, just as earlier rumored, the Ascend P6 has a 1280x720-resolution, 4.7-inch in-cell display housed inside a metallic case, and in a break from the norm, provides a five-megapixel camera on the front of the device.

Running on a 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, the Ascend P6 also has an eight-megapixel BSI camera on the back with an F/2.0 lens and capable of taking a 4cm (1.6-inch) macro shot and 1080p HD video recording. It also has 8GB of storage expandable through microSD by up to 32GB, Dolby Digital Plus audio processing, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, a 2000mAh battery, and radios for GSM, UMTS, and HSPA+.

Running on Android 4.2.2 using Huawei's Emotion UI skin, the Ascend P6 ships with the comapny's own IMAGESmart software, featuring various shot modes, image enhancements and "instant facial beauty support." A Me widget, Smart Reading, battery optimization and power saving through its Automatic Discontinuous Reception and Quick Power Control options, and the ability to share documents to other devices through its multi-screen AirSharing option are also included.

Huawei will initially be shipping the Ascend P6 to China in June, then to Western Europe from July. While pricing and further release regions were not disclosed, other markets will apparently be announced in the future.
