Pre-orders for new Samsung tablet range start now

Samsung has revealed it will be bringing the updated Galaxy Tab 3 range of devices to the United States on July 7th. The three tablets, available in 7-inch, 8-inch, and 10.1-inch versions, will be available to pre-order from tomorrow onwards, and provide some slight revisions to previous Galaxy Tab iterations, including the addition of an IR transmitter for use as a TV remote control.

While the devices share similar aesthetics, the specifications of each do vary considerably. The 7-inch model uses the older Android 4.1 compared to the version 4.2 used in the other two tablets, and uses a dual-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and a 1024x600-resolution display. On the back is a 3-megapixel camera, with a front-facing 1.3-megapixel counterpart, and it also comes with a 4,000mAh battery.

The larger Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 also has a dual-core processor, this time running at 1.5GHz with 1.5GB of RAM, and a larger 16GB of built-in storage. It also has Bluetooth 4.0 and a higher 1280x800-resolution TFT screen. The biggest tablet of the roster, the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, opts for a dual-core 1.6GHz processor with1 GB of RAM. Despite having the largest screen, it has the same resolution as the 8.0 version, but opts for a 6,800mAh battery instead of the 4,450mAh in the mid-sized version. Bot the 8.0 and 10.1 have front-facing 1.3-megapixel cameras, but the 8.0 goes for the higher-resolution 5-megapixel version for the rear, while the 10.1 uses the 3-megapixel option.

The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, 8.0, and 10.1 will cost $199, $299, and $399 respectively.
