Smaller screen follows earlier 50-inch UHDTV launch in April

Television producer Seiki is planning to release a new UHD TV measuring 39 inches before the end of this month for $699. The Ultra-HD television, relatively cheap compared to some other UHDTV offerings, comes after the company released a 50-inch version in April that was also capable of displaying video at the 3840x2160 resolution typically associated with 4K images.

Pre-orders of the TV will start at Sears on the 27th, according to Engadget, and while the budget UHDTV is able to display normal 1080p video at 120Hz, 4K-resolution content will only show at 30Hz. Aside from using HDMI 1.4 and supplying a compliant cable, it will also have a USB port for showing photos through an external drive, built-in digital and analog channel tuning, and multiple video and audio connections, though the company does not go into detail as to what they are.

Along with the 39-inch and earlier 50-inch models, Seiki is planning to introduce a third UHDTV by the fall, this time measuring a larger 65 inches.
