Microsoft posts SkyDrive Pro apps for Windows 8, iOS

updated 01:14 pm EDT, Fri June 28, 2013

Limited to Office 365 subscribers

Microsoft has released native SkyDrive Pro apps for Windows 8 and iOS. The apps let users upload and share files to SkyDrive cloud storage, and open compatible photos, videos, and work documents. Unlike the regular SkyDrive apps, however, the Pro ones are limited to SharePoint Online users with Office 365 subscriptions.

Some lesser features of the apps include lists of recently-used files, and the ability to save files for offline use. Both apps are free downloads for Office 365 subscribers; the iOS app requires iOS 6 or later.
