Sony Honami could feature 4K Ultra HD video recording capabilities
Press shots of the forthcoming camera-focused smartphone from Sony codenamed 'Honami' C906 have leaked on the net. Also making an appearance are screenshots of Sony's updated user interface for the device, which is said to be running the current build of Android, version 4.2.2 'Jelly Bean.' The renders also show a dedicated hardware camera button, underscoring the emphasis Sony is placing on the camera's rumored 20-megapixel sensor and its purported photo shooting prowess.
Sony is pushing 4K Ultra HD technology with its new television range and other home entertainment gear, and it looks set to translate this into the Honami. The rumor mill suggests that the camera will enable 4K video shooting at a resolution of 4000x2000 pixels. As with Sony's recently unveiled mega phablet the 6.4-inch Xperia Z Ultra, the Honami is expected to sport Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 processor, clocked at 2.2GHz or 2.3GHz.
The leaked pictures also confirm earlier rumors that the device will also feature an aluminum frame, as Sony continues to push hard on its premium smartphone hardware credentials. There is no word on pricing or when the latest Sony flagship Android handset is expected to arrive. However, if the press shots are indeed accurate, it would seem that a Q3 launch seems likely. [
