Nokia tablet said to have 1.3GHz Tegra 3, Windows RT

A tablet claimed to be Nokia's allegedly-shelved Windows RT device has been shown off in a set of recently-uploaded photographs. The images show the prototype slate, complete with Nokia branding on the rear and a 10.1-inch display, and suggests that Nokia has done a significant amount of work on the device before effectively ceasing its tablet efforts.

The five photographs uploaded to Naver seem to show the tablet as having a polycarbonate shell, something that Nokia is known for using in its devices. The connector on the side is also unusual, appearing to have a long plug that attaches to the tablet, as opposed to the microUSB used by many currently on the market.

Other sources on the WPCentral forum claims that the tablet has a Tegra 3 processor running at 1.3GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16-point multitouch, space for a SIM card, a USB port, and Windows RT as its operating system. Since the original source of the photographs and the forum-based specifications are not from Nokia itself, it is possible that these specifications are incorrect in some way.

Earlier rumors of its development were reinforced by a Nokia design lead confirming it was being worked on in an interview in March last year. Even though other patent filings related to the device have been uncovered, and CEO Stephen Elop talked about his company's willingness to look at Android as an operating system for the for the tablet in a later interview, the company is said to have all but given up on releasing a tablet at this moment in time.
