HTC One mini nearing release, captured live in photos

The HTC One mini has been caught going through wireless certification in China. The device has been widely anticipated as it one of the first mid-range Android devices to feature a high-quality aluminum finish, normally reserved for high-end devices. While it takes a step down in terms of its overall specifications, it carries over some of the features from its larger HTC One stable mate including the vaunted BoomSound dual-stereo front facing speakers.

The display steps down from the 4.7-inch 1080p panel on the HTC One to a 4.3-inch panel with a 720p resolution. However, it retains the 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera from the HTC One and also seen on the HTC Butterfly S. Although not capable of taking particularly high-resolution photos, it uses a larger sensor that captures more light for better low-light shooting performance.

The processor is Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor, similar to last year's Snapdragon S4 chips, and is clocked at 1.4GHz. It is paired with 1GB of RAM and includes an integrated Adreno 305 GPU. The One mini will ship with Android 4.2.2 out of the box when it is revealed, as widely expected, before the end of July. [via GSM Arena]
