Allegedly leaked US Cellular documents reveal potential launch date

The Moto X from Motorola could be coming out on August 26th, according to leaked documents. Paperwork allegedly sourced from within US Cellular provides the date, and appears at the same time as the Google-owned manufacturer teases the US-based manufacturing of the smartphone in a Twitter posting.

Documents picked up by Android Central reveal the supposed release date details, though this could just be for US Cellular alone and instead launch on other networks at another time. One listing on August 25th mentions a promotional change, the arrival of the "Motorola X Launch Kit" in stores, and some form of accessory discount, while the launch itself is set for the next day.

The image on Twitter shows an employee at a workstation working on a small handheld device, and aside from it being white in color, the shot is taken from too far away to see finer detail on what is being assembled. The Motorola account is frank with what it is, simply stating "Yep. This guy is building exactly what you think he is. Designed by you. Assembled in the USA."

The phone's development and Motorola as a whole is starting to affect Google financially. In quarterly results shown yesterday, the smartphone arm was shown to earn $998 million in revenues, though its operating loss deepened from previous quarters to $342 million.
