Rhapsody update offers offline playback option
Internet radio app, Rhapsody, received an update for iPhone and iPad Friday with the release of version 3.5. A free app requiring a monthly subscription of $15 per month, Rhapsody gives users access to over sixteen million songs, with new releases every Tuesday. Version 3.5 offers an offline playback mode, meaning users can listen to their downloaded library contents without the need for a network connection. An editorial feature is now included, where posts and playlists are created and updated daily by Rhapsody's editorial team. In addition, social network 'sharing' had been added for Facebook and Twitter. The Rhapsody app is available on iTunes.
Canary to offer home security for 'everyone'
An Indiegogo campaign for a compact home security device, Canary, has successfully garnered enough funds to feasibly produce its product in 2014. Described as the world's first smart home security device for 'everyone', the multi-sensor appliance is controlled entirely from one's iPhone or Android smartphone, and provides alerts when anything is deemed out of the ordinary in its parameters. Canary can measure and detect with an HD camera, microphone, night vision and motion detection capacity, temperature, air quality and humidity. Improving surveillance over time, Canary is able to 'learn' users' home patterns in order to send accurate alerts. Though not yet in mass production, contributors to its Indiegogo campaign are able to pre-order the Canary system and enjoy other perks, depending on the donation level offered. Canary's Indiegogo campaign ends August 26, 2013.
