Reddit user shows new Google tablet in pictures before launch event

Benchmarks for the revised Google Nexus 7 have leaked online, along with a confirmation of the 1920x1200-resolution display leaked in a Best Buy flyer earlier this week. The specifications list is accompanied by news of a Reddit user receiving the tablet early, and that Best Buy has started off pre-orders for the tablet, all ahead of its expected launch at a Google event later today.

The benchmarks received by Android Police show the codenamed "Razor" device as being relatively similar to the Nexus 4, at least in terms of internals. Using a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB of RAM, it is shown in the benchmark screenshots to have a five-megapixel rear camera with a front-facing one-megapixel counterpart. The 3DMark and AnTuTu benchmarks shows it as having slightly better results than the Nexus 4, though due to the similarity with the smartphone, it is not clear how much of the improvement is down to Android 4.3.

The Best Buy pre-orders for the new Nexus 7, found by Droid-Life, continue the flyer-advertised price for the 16GB model, setting it at $230, while the 32GB model goes up to $270 as expected.

Reddit user xQcKx was able to receive the tablet early through OfficeMax, reports Pocket-Lint, and put two images onto the community site before deleting the account. The first image shows the back of the tablet with the horizontal Nexus logo and camera, while the second image shows the packaging.

Google Android and Chrome chief Sundar Pichai is holding a breakfast event at 9am local time, with both the new Nexus 7 and Android 4.3 expected to be launched at the event.
