Quick wrist twists to trigger camera app launch on Moto X

A camera app said to be heading to the incoming Moto X smartphone has leaked. The application, available to download as an APK, offers a number of gestures to control the various settings of the camera, and has been shown to be mostly functional when run on a Google Nexus 4 and a Samsung Galaxy Note II.

The APK from Android Police touts the option to swipe from the left to the right for a settings menu, and from the right to access the gallery. Tapping on the screen will take a photo, while holding will allow for multiple shots, and dragging vertically will enable the zoom. A "Quick Capture" gesture to load the camera app is listed as twisting the wrist twice quickly. Though most of the app appears to work fine, items such as the Quick Capture gesture, panoramic photography, HDR, and Slow-motion are not currently functional in the APK.

Motorola and Google will be formally revealing the Moto X at an event on August 1st. The Moto X is said to have a continuous surface of glass that wraps around the edges of the phone, dual LTE MIMO Smart Antennas, along with the outside chance of a Google smartwatch launching alongside it.
