Vega LTE set to be SK Telecom-exclusive, could go overseas
Pantech is updating its Vega smartphone line to include a smartphone with an integrated fingerprint reader on the rear of the device, similar to the initial rumors of the LG G2. The Vega LTE-A provides support for LTE-Advanced over SK Telecom's network in South Korea, something that will allow it to connect at a speed of up to 150Mbps.
Behind the phablet's 5.6-inch 1080p IPS display is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 running at 2.3GHz with 2GB of RAM, according to specifications received by Unwired View. Running on Android 4.2.2, it will have a 13-megapixel camera on the rear, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of storage, and a 3,100mAh battery that is said to fully charge within 94 minutes.
While the Vega LTE-A will be going on sale as an SK Telecom exclusive until September with no mention of an international release, the slowly growing support for LTE-A connections by carriers and the relatively few LTE-A devices could lead to Pantech releasing the device in other territories.
