Users complain over second-generation Google Nexus 7 GPS fault

GPS on refreshed tablet usable for short period, stops

The new Google Nexus 7 tablet appears to be having a few teething issues a short time after its launch. A number of owners of the second-generation device are complaining on forums about its GPS navigation, with position tracking seemingly working fine for a short period of time, before suddenly stopping and becoming unusable.

Posts on Google's Product Forums, found by Phone Arena, state that users are able to use the GPS for between 10 and 30 minutes, before it suddenly moves into a "searching" mode with the GPS icon flashing. Restarting the Nexus 7 is said to temporarily fix the problem in some cases, though this is not reliable.

Google Play Support is said to be aware of the issue, and that its engineering teams would be issuing a patch to fix the problem in the future, though it is unknown how long this will take to be rolled out to customers.
