Haswell-upgraded Acer Aspire S7 priced, detailed for US market

New model of Acer ultrabook available now at retail

Acer has detailed specifications and pricing available for its S7 Ultrabook line. The 2.87-pound device has a retooled case and has been upgraded to the fourth-generation Intel Core i5 or i7 "Haswell" processors, which has resulted in what the company calls a 33 percent boost in battery life over the previous generation.

Other improvements in the new model are a new keyboard with a deeper keystroke, a quieter main cooling fan, wireless display (WiDi0 technology), and an increase to 8GB of memory, versus 4GB in the previous model.

The i5-4200U model running at 1.6GHz with boost to 2.6GHz has a 128GB SSD, and retails for $1,450. The uprated i7-4500U model runs at 1.8GHz a boost to 2.3GHz, and has a 256GB SSD. The i7 model retails for $1,700.
