Telefonica Digital and Evernote announce global partnership with kick-off in Brazil
Launching in Brazil today, Telefonica Digital's Vivo brand is offering customers one year's access to top-tier features with Evernote Premium. Evernote helps users improve their productivity on Android and iOS devices, by creating written notes and to-do lists as well as photo capture, and sync this media across personal devices. The partnership is giving Vivo customers access to a 1GB upload limit and the ability to read notes offline, as well as benefitting from higher security features. It is yet to be determined whether this offer is exclusive to new customers.
Comcast announces year three of low-income broadband adoption program
Executive Vice President of Comcast, David L. Cohen, has announced today that within the next 22 months, more than 220,000 families, or 900,000 low-income Americans will have Internet at home. This comes from an initiative by the company entitled Internet Essentials, which aims to assist in providing internet access to those who are otherwise financially isolated from attaining the service. Since the program's launch in August 2011, Internet Essentials has enrolled upwards of 50,000 new families every six months. Additionally, Comcast has distributed over 18,000 subsidized computers across the US. Families signed-up for Internet Essentials pay $10 per month for broadband service, and also have the option to purchase an Internet-ready computer for under $150. A household is eligible to participate if it has at least one child eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
