Microsoft online e-mail, storage services suffer from ongoing outage

updated 02:04 pm EDT, Wed August 14, 2013

Global outage affecting limited number of Outlook, SkyDrive users

A number of online services operated by Microsoft are not currently operating normally, according to reports. The company's Outlook, People, and the SkyDrive cloud storage service are suffering from an outage, preventing users from being able to see e-mails, make changes to contacts, nor to access their files stored online.

The company's service status dashboard shows that Microsoft accounts, Calendar, Connected services, Messenger, and Family Safety are all running normally. While users of Outlook "might not be able to see all your e-mail messages," address book changes on People are not being actioned for Hotmail or Outlook.com users.

While the outage is covering multiple services, the issues do not appear to be affecting all users, according to ZDnet. Microsoft has released a statement, suggesting that affected users continue to view the status page for future updates on the issues.
